Who we are

What information NestBest uses

• Your budget data (categories, transactions, goals, net-worth figures) is stored only in a Google Sheets file that NestBest creates in your own Google Drive. It never passes through any server of ours — the app reads and writes that file directly from your browser to your Google account.
• Your Google account email is read while you are signed in, only to show you which account is active and to create your budget file. We do not store it.
• Sign-in permission. NestBest requests a single, limited Google permission (drive.file). This lets it see and manage only the files it creates or that you specifically open with it — it cannot see the rest of your Google Drive, your email, your contacts, or anything else in your account.
• On-device settings (such as your theme choice) are saved only in your own browser's local storage on your device. They are not transmitted to us. (The optional receipt-scanning key is handled as described below.)

Optional receipt & statement scanning

Scanning is off unless you turn it on. If you choose to enable it, you add your own free Google "Gemini" API key. By default the key is stored only on your own device (in your browser's local storage) and is never sent to us. You may optionally turn on "Share with this Nest," which also saves the key with your budget in your own private Google Drive — this lets it survive your device clearing its storage and lets family members with Editor access to that shared budget scan too. That sharing only happens if you deliberately enable it. When you scan a receipt or statement, that image is sent from your device to Google's Gemini API to read the text, and the result is placed into your budget for you to review. We never receive your key or your images. Google's handling of that request is governed by Google's own terms. You can remove the key at any time in Settings.

What we do not do

• We do not collect or store your financial data on any server.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
• We do not use advertising or third-party tracking or analytics.
• We do not access any files in your Drive other than the budget file(s) you use with NestBest.

Sharing a budget with family

If you choose to share a budget, you do so through Google Drive's own sharing — you decide who to invite, and you can change or remove access at any time from Google Drive. People you invite can see and edit that shared budget; each person's own separate budget stays private to them.

Google API Services — Limited Use

NestBest's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide and improve the features you see in the app, is never transferred to us or to others except as needed to provide those features, is never used for advertising, and is never sold.

Keeping your data & deleting it

Because your data lives in your own Google Drive, you are always in control of it. To remove your NestBest data, delete the budget spreadsheet from your Google Drive. To revoke NestBest's access entirely, remove it under your Google Account ▸ Data & privacy ▸ Third-party access.

Children

NestBest is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of NestBest after a change means you accept the updated policy.
